a ditadura na tela

A Ditadura na Tela was a film event held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, between 2014 and 2017. Over six editions, the event featured 22 documentaries chosen to explore themes related to memories of the Brazilian military dictatorship. This initiative resulted from a collaboration between the Núcleo de História Oral da UFMG and the Museu da Imagem e do Som (MIS). Topics such as the Black movement, censorship, armed struggle, alternative press, and LGBTphobia were actively discussed during the movie sessions. The book compiles twelve texts written by researchers who attended the movie screenings. The cover is adorned with black bands, symbolizing the graphic representation of cuts imposed by censorship during the dictatorship. Additionally, each chapter opening features abstract deformations resembling a movie screen.
